Inappropriate marital conduct is a ground for divorce in some states. Such conduct has been construed by the courts to mean a number of things. Generally, it means conduct that makes living together unacceptable.

It may consist of, among others, the following:
  • Cruel and inhuman treatment or conduct towards the spouse as renders cohabitation unsafe and improper.
  • Engaging in an extra-marital relationship.
  • Abusive language.
  • Sexual misconduct
