Notice to creditors is a public notice asking creditors of an estate, or a debtor, to present their claims in court. In a bankruptcy case, notice to creditors precedes the first meeting of creditors, where creditors who are owed payment are invited to present their claims. The notice gives information to the creditors that a meeting for presenting their claim will be held, that proofs of claim must be filed, or that an order for relief has been granted. .
