Official Forms Law & Legal Definition
Official forms are used by courts and agencies to ensure the complete and uniform submission of information. Courts and agencies develop their own rules for the format and content of the forms they make available. For example, a court may mandate that the form be used without modification, and that the forms they make available for downloading on the Internet must be printed double-sided onto one sheet of paper.
There is a vast array of forms available from all types of courts and agencies. Some of the forms include bankruptcy forms, subpoenas, poverty affidavits, and many more. The rules regarding the use of official forms vary and are promulgated at the agency, local, state and federal levels.
