Gear Conflict Law and Legal Definition
According to 50 CFR 600.10 [Title 50 -- Wildlife And Fisheries Chapter Vi -- Fishery Conservation And Management, National Oceanic And Atmospheric Administration, Department Of Commerce Part 600 -- Magnuson-Stevens Act Provisions Subpart A -- General ] Gear conflict means “any incident at sea involving one or more fishing vessels:
(1) In which one fishing vessel or its gear comes into contact with another vessel or the gear of another vessel; and
(2) That results in the loss of, or damage to, a fishing vessel, fishing gear, or catch.
