General Damages in Eminent Domain Law and Legal Definition
General damages in eminent domain include:
- damages which result from the taking of the property,
- compensation for the property taken and
- injury to adjacent land of the condemnee.
They are damages common to the entire community through which or in which the project of condemnation is established. [Lewisburg & N. R. Co. v. Hinds, 134 Tenn. 293, 327 (Tenn. 1916)]
