Graduate Center [Education] Law and Legal Definition
According to 34 CFR 647.7 (b) [Title 34 – Education; Subtitle B -- Regulations of the Offices of the Department of Education; Chapter VI -- Office of Postsecondary Education, Department of Education; Part 647 -- Ronald E. Mcnair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program; Subpart A – General], the term graduate center means “an educational institution as defined in sections 481, 1201(a), and 1204 of the HEA; and that --
(1) Provides instruction in one or more programs leading to a doctoral degree;
(2) Maintains specialized library collections;
(3) Employs scholars engaged in research that relates to the subject areas of the center; and
(4) Provides outreach and consultative services on a national, regional or local basis.”
