Gratuitous Contract Law and Legal Definition
A gratuitous contract is one, the object of which is for the benefit of the person with whom it is made. It is a contract in which one party promises to do something without receiving anything in exchange. Therefore in such contracts only one person is benefited. The other party receives no profit or advantage or any advantage promised as a consideration for it. Gift is an example of a gratuitous contract.
