Guardian by Estoppel Law and Legal Definition
Guardian by estoppel is a person who acts as a guardian of another without any proper legal authority. A guardian is a person who is entitled to the custody of the person or property of an infant, a minor without living parents, or a person incapable of managing his/her own affairs. In some circumstances, a person can assume the position of a guardian of another person without legal authority. Such a person will be called guardian by estoppel.
