Habitual Truant Law and Legal Definition
A habitual truant refers to a child of compulsory school age who is absent without a legitimate excuse for five or more consecutive school days, seven or more school days in one month or twelve or more school days in a school year.
The following is an example of a state law on habitual truant :
Habitual truant means a pupil who is absent from school without an acceptable excuse for part or all of 5 or more days on which school is held during a school semester. [Wis. Stat. § 118.16].
