Half-Tongue Law and Legal Definition
The term ‘half-tongue’ refers to a jury empanelled to try an alien. It was a term that was used in England to refer to a jury that was composed to try a foreigner. In such a jury, the jurors were composed equally of citizens and aliens. However, the use of this type of jury ended in 1914 with the passage of the Statute of Aliens Act.
