Health Service Program Law and Legal Definition
Health service program refers to a program established to promote and maintain the physical and mental fitness of employees under the jurisdiction of the head of each agency of the government of the U.S. A health service program is established in consultation with the Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare [Secretary of Health and Human Services] and after considering their recommendations.
A health service program is established either by contract or otherwise in localities where there are a sufficient number of employees to warrant providing of such service. A health service program is limited to treatment on-the-job illness and dental conditions requiring emergency attention, pre-employment and other examinations, referral of employees to private physicians and dentists and preventive programs relating to health.
