A healthcare lien is asserted by a Health Maintenance Organization, insurer, medical group, or independent practice association against the people who are liable to the patient for damages. This is a lien to recover the money paid or claim the money payable for healthcare services provided under a healthcare service plan or a disability insurance policy. This is also known as medical lien.
