Heir Legal Law and Legal Definition
Heir legal is an heir who succeeded to the estate of his ancestor by descent under the law of succession. Heir legal is distinguished from an heir who took under a will or a contract. At Common Law, an heir was the individual appointed by law to succeed to the estate of an ancestor who died without a will. It is commonly used today in mention to any individual who succeeds to property, either by will or law.
