HIP Registration Number [Wildlife Law] Law and Legal Definition
Federal law requires each person hunting migratory game birds in any State except Hawaii to identify himself/herself as a migratory bird hunter. This identification is done by registering with the Migratory Bird Harvest Information Program (HIP). To register the individual must give details such as : his/her name, address, date of birth, and hunting license type and number to the respective State hunting licensing authority. At the end of registration, the person will be given his/her HIP number.
There is no charge for a HIP registration number. It can be done online easily.
