Home Health Care Law and Legal Definition
Home health care means the part-time or occasional skilled nursing care that is needed or given on fewer than seven days each week or less than eight hours each day over a period of twenty one days. It also provides home health aide services and other skilled care services such as physical and occupational therapy, speech-language therapy services, medical social services, durable medical equipment services such as wheelchairs, hospital beds, oxygen, and walkers, medical supplies, and other services.
Home health care provides treatment for an illness or injury and helps patient’s to get better, regain independence, and become self-sufficient. For patients with long-term health problems, the goal of home health care is to make patients learn to live with their illness or disability.
