Homeland Security Advanced Research Projects Agency Law and Legal Definition
The Homeland Security Advanced Research Projects Agency (“Agency”) is a federal agency that administers the fund to award merit-reviewed grants, and cooperative agreements to public or private entities, including businesses, federally funded research and development centers, and universities. It is established pursuant to 6 USCS § 187.
The following are the functions of the Agency:
1.To support basic and applied homeland security research to promote revolutionary changes in technologies that would promote homeland security;
2.To advance the development, testing and evaluation, and deployment of critical homeland security technologies; and
3.To accelerate the prototyping and deployment of technologies that would address homeland security vulnerabilities.
