Hospital Insurance Law and Legal Definition
Hospital insurance plan is a type of health insurance plan that provides coverage for illness, hospital confinement, accident hospitalization, intensive care and convalescence. Hospital insurance also called as medicare part A plan provides coverage for medically necessary services furnished by medicare-certified hospitals, hospices, home health agencies, and skilled nursing facilities. Inpatient hospital stay coverage provided by hospital insurance will pay for the overnight stay including semiprivate room, food, tests, and doctor's fees. Any worker or spouse entitled to benefits under either the Social Security or Railroad Retirement System, or has worked a sufficient time in federal, state, or local government employment to be insured need not pay monthly premium to get coverage under hospital insurance.
