Hotchpot Law and Legal Definition
Hotchpot is the blending or mixing of various properties in order to achieve equal division. It usually arises in cases of divorce or in connection with advances made from the estate of an intestate deceased. For example, the term Hotchpot is applied to bringing together all the personal estate of the person who died intestate, with the advancements he has made to his children, in order that the same may be divided agreeably.
