Human Rights Democracy Fund [HRDF] Law and Legal Definition
The Human Rights Democracy Fund (HRDF) is the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor’s (Department of Labor) program designed to fulfill the bureau’s mandate of monitoring and promoting human rights and democracy worldwide.
The HRDF supports innovative, venture capital programs that uphold democratic principles, support and strengthen democratic institutions, promote human rights, and build civil society in countries and regions of the world that are geo-strategically important to the U.S. This enable the U.S. to minimize human rights abuses, support democracy activist’s worldwide, open political space in struggling or nascent democracies and authoritarian regimes, and allow the U.S. government to bring positive transnational change.
