Humane Law and Legal Definition
Generally the term humane is characterized by tenderness, compassion, and sympathy for people and animals, esp. for the suffering or distressed: humane treatment of horses.
Pursuant to 16 USCS § 1362 (4), [Title 16. Conservation; Chapter 31. Marine Mammal Protection; Generally] the term humane in the context of the taking of a marine mammal means “that method of taking which involves the least possible degree of pain and suffering practicable to the mammal involved.”
