IAC [Patent] Law and Legal Definition
IAC means Inventors Assistance Center. It is a center that helps public by providing patent information and services. The public can contact the IAC to gain better knowledge on the patent examining policy and procedure. The IAC is staffed by former supervisory patent examiners and experienced primary examiners. IAC was formerly known as the Patent Assistance Center.
The IAC staffs provide information concerning patent rules, procedures, and fees; help in filling out forms; send patenting information via e-mail/fax; direct calls to the concerned USPTO staff; and also provide general information on patents. However, they cannot provide information relating to any particular patent application, give legal advice, or recommend if an invention is patentable.
