With respect to Criminal procedure, inadvertent discovery refers to a law-enforcement officer’s unexpected finding of incriminating evidence in plain view. Such evidence can be used against the accused under the plain-view exception to the warrant requirement. Therefore, a warrant is not required to obtain such type of evidence.
