Indefinite-Delivery Contract Law and Legal Definition
Indefinite delivery contracts are used where the exact time of delivery is not known at the time of contracting. There are three types of indefinite-delivery contracts:
1.Definite-quantity contracts,
2.Rrequirements contracts, and
3.Indefinite-quantity contracts.
The appropriate type of indefinite-delivery contract may be used to acquire supplies and services when the exact time and exact quantities of future deliveries are not known at the time of contract award. According to 48 CFR 16.505, orders placed under indefinite-delivery contracts must contain the following information:
1.Date of order;
2.Contract number and order number;
3. Contract item number and description, quantity, and unit price or estimated cost or fee;
4.Delivery or performance schedule;
5.Place of delivery or performance (including consignee);
6.Any packaging, packing, and shipping instructions;
7.Accounting and appropriation data.****
