According to 49 CFR 176.2 [Title 49 – Transportation; Subtitle B Other Regulations Relating to Transportation; Chapter I Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, Department of Transportation; Subchapter C Hazardous Materials Regulations; Part 176 Carriage by Vessel; Subpart A – General], INF cargo means “packaged irradiated nuclear fuel, plutonium or high-level radioactive wastes as those terms are defined in the "International Code for the Safe Carriage of Packaged Irradiated Nuclear Fuel, Plutonium and High-Level Radioactive Wastes on Board Ships" (INF Code) contained in the IMDG Code.”
