Informed Compliance [Shipping] Law and Legal Definition
Informed compliance refers the aptitude of an entity to comply with federal rules and regulations through easy access to up-to-date information. It is the shared responsibility between customs and the import community wherein Customs effectively communicates its requirements to the trade, and the people and businesses subject to those requirements conduct their regulated activities in accordance with U.S. laws and regulations. The fundamental constituent of informed compliance is that the importer is expected to exercise reasonable care in his/her importing operations.
