According to 18 CFR 39.1 (Title 18 -- Conservation Of Power And Water Resources; Chapter I -Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Department Of Energy; Subchapter B - Regulations Under The Federal Power Act; Part 39 - Rules Concerning Certification Of The Electric Reliability Organization; And Procedures For The Establishment, Approval, And Enforcement Of Electric Reliability Standards), Interconnection means “a geographic area in which the operation of Bulk-Power System components is synchronized such that the failure of one or more of such components may adversely affect the ability of the operators of other components within the system to maintain Reliable Operation of the facilities within their control.”
