Intermodal Management System Law and Legal Definition
According to 23 CFR 500.703 [Title 23. Highways; Chapter I Federal Highway Administration, Department Of Transportation; Subchapter F Transportation Infrastructure Management; Part 500 Management And Monitoring Systems, Subpart G Intermodal Facilities And Systems Management System ], ’intermodal management system (IMS)’ means “a systematic process of identifying key linkages between one or more modes of transportation, where the performance or use of one mode will affect another, defining strategies for improving the effectiveness of these modal interactions, and evaluation and implementation of these strategies to enhance the overall performance of the transportation system.”
