Intimidate Law and Legal Definition
Intimidate means to create a fear in the mind of ordinary person by way of intentional saying or doing something. It is not necessary to prove that the victim was actually frightened or the behavior of the person was so violent that it caused terror, panic or hysteria to the victim.
The following is an example of a case law defining the term:
'Intimidation' by definition involves the creation of fear in a victim, and the very nature of a threat is the creation of fear of negative consequences for the purpose of influencing behavior. [State v. Marrero, 2009 Ohio 2430, P12 (Ohio Ct. App., Lorain County May 26, 2009)].
