Invited Error Law and Legal Definition
Invited error is an error resulting from a party's own request for or encouragement of an action by the court. A party cannot complain of such errors on appeal because the party, through conduct, encouraged or prompted the trial court to make the erroneous ruling. In short, a party may not seek relief based on invited error that he or she has induced.
