According to 34 CFR 97.102 (h) [Title 34 – Education; Subtitle A -- Office of the Secretary, Department of Education; Part 97 -- Protection of Human Subjects; Subpart A -- Federal Policy for the Protection of Human Subjects (Basic Ed Policy for Protection of Human Research Subjects)] the term IRB approval means “the determination of the IRB (Institutional Review Board) that the research has been reviewed and may be conducted at an institution within the constraints set forth by the IRB and by other institutional and federal requirements.”
