Irregular Discharge [Veterans' Relief] Law and Legal Definition
According to 38 CFR 70.2 [Title 38 -- Pensions, Bonuses, and Veterans' Relief; Chapter I -- Department of Veterans Affairs; Part 70 -- VHA Beneficiary Travel Under 38 U.S.C. 111], irregular discharge means “the release of a competent patient from a VA or VA-authorized hospital, nursing home, or domiciliary care due to: refusal, neglect or obstruction of examination or treatment; leaving without the approval of the treating health care clinician; or disorderly conduct and discharge is the appropriate disciplinary action.”
