Ius Privatum Law and Legal Definition
Ius privatum is a Latin phrase which means private law. Ius privatum regulated the relations between individuals. In Roman law ius privatum included personal law, property law and civil law. Judicial proceeding and criminal law were also considered as ius privatum except where the crimes were very severe.
