Joint Terrorism Task Force Law and Legal Definition
Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) is a task force appointed for taking action against terrorism, which includes the investigation of crimes such as wire fraud and identity theft. JTTF is constituted with representatives of local government and law enforcement agencies such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation, other federal agencies especially Department of Homeland Security components such as U.S. Coast Guard Investigative Service, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the Transportation Security Administration, and the U.S. Secret Service. JTTF is responsible for countering terrorism. In addition, JTTF coordinates information and intelligence collection and analysis among local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. JTTF’s also takes part in surveillance, electronic monitoring, source development and interviews in their movements.
