Judices Pedaneos Law and Legal Definition
The Romans submitted actions on dispute between private individuals to judges chosen by the parties. Such judges were called Judices Pedaneos. The Praetors and other great magistrates did not decide on such actions between private individuals. The Plaintiff had the right to nominate the judge and the Defendant had to either accept or reject the nominated judge.
