Knights Banneret Law and Legal Definition
Knights banneret are knights who carried a banner and was obliged to serve in war with a greater number of attendants. Knights banneret led a company of troops during time of war under his own banner. They possessed fiefs to a greater amount than the knight bachelor and ranked below the knights of the order of St. George, or of the garter. The dignity was sometimes conferred by the sovereign in person on the field of battle. They are also known simply as banneret.
