Knit-to-Shape Law and Legal Definition
According to 19 CFR 10.212 [Title 19 -- Customs Duties; Chapter I -- U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Department of Homeland Security; Department of the Treasury; Part 10 -- Articles Conditionally Free, Subject to a Reduced Rate, etc.], "knit-to-shape," when used with reference to textile components, means components that are knitted or crocheted from a yarn directly to a specific shape containing a self-start edge. Minor cutting or trimming will not affect the determination of whether a component is "knit-to-shape."
