National Association of Securities Dealers Law and Legal Definition
National Association of Securities Dealers ("NASD") is a self-regulatory organization composed of security brokers and dealers operating under the supervision of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
NASD is responsible for the operation and regulation of the NASDAQ stock market and over-the-counter markets. NASD also administers exams such as the Series 7 exam, for investment professionals. NASD watches over the NASDAQ to make sure the market operates correctly.
