National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants Law and Legal Definition
The National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAPs) are emissions standards set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). These standards are set for an air pollutant that is not covered by National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) and can cause an increase in fatalities or in serious, irreversible, or incapacitating illness.
