National Fire Code Law and Legal Definition
National Fire Code is a code formulated by the National Fire Protection Association. It establishes fire protection standards for buildings and building materials.
State statutes provide that the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) national fire codes and the national building code shall be used as the references and standards for determinations by the state fire marshal. [Joseph C. Canizaro-901 Ltd. Partnership v. State, Dep't of Public Safety, etc., 570 So. 2d 56 (La.App. 4 Cir. 1990)].
