National Gang Center Law and Legal Definition
The National Gang Center is a coordinated project of the Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) and the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP). The national gang center recognizes that street gang activities exceed ages of gang members and other structural and jurisdictional boundaries and that a balanced, comprehensive approach is needed to reduce gang involvement and levels of gang crime. The National Gang Center features in its website the latest research about gangs; descriptions of evidence-based, anti-gang programs; and links to tools, databases, and other resources to assist in developing and implementing effective community-based gang prevention, intervention, and suppression strategies.
