Near-Surface Disposal Facility [Energy] Law and Legal Definition
According to 10 CFR 61.2 [Title 10 – Energy; Chapter I -- Nuclear Regulatory Commission; Part 61 -- Licensing Requirements for Land Disposal of Radioactive Waste; Subpart A -- General Provisions], the term near-surface disposal facility means “a land disposal facility in which radioactive waste is disposed of in or within the upper 30 meters of the earth's surface.”
