Needs Assessment Law and Legal Definition
A needs assessment is an ongoing data-gathering process to determine what training needs exist. A needs assessment is a systematic analysis of the way things are and the way they should be. The "things" examined are commonly related to organizational and/or individual performance.
Some of the different methods for conducting a needs assessment include:

- Standards
- Analysis of statistics, records
- Suggestion box
- Meetings, reports, newsletters
