Neglected Minor Law and Legal Definition
Neglected Minor is generally, a child or youth under 18 years of age who has been abandoned, is being denied proper care and attention, is being permitted to live under conditions injurious to his/her well being, or has been abused.
A child becomes a neglected child when a parent responsible for his/her welfare does not provide the proper or necessary support, education as required by law, or medical or other care necessary , adequate food, clothing, and shelter. Any newborn infant with blood or urine containing a controlled substance or any minor under 14 years whose parent leaves the minor without supervision for an unreasonable period of time without regard to the minor’s mental or physical health, safety, or welfare are all to be treated as neglected minor.
