Nemo Debet Ex Alieno Damno Lucrari Law and Legal Definition
Nemo Debet Ex Alieno Damno Lucrari is a Latin Phrase which means no one should be enriched at another’s cost or loss. A person should not be benefited out of the loss or damage sustained by another. This is based on the law of equity. One person builds a house in a property on the belief that it is his own property. Later the property proved to be property of another. Then, the owner of the property can take the property as an accessory to his/her land. However, the owner is bound to indemnify the person who builds the building with bonafides. The beneficiary is to compensate the bonafide to the extent to which s/he benefited by the other’s labour.
