According to 5 CFR 532.501 [Title 5 -- Administrative Personnel; Chapter I -- Office of Personnel Management; Subchapter B -- Civil Service Regulations; Part 532 -- Prevailing Rate Systems; Subpart E -- Premium Pay and Differentials], night shift differential means “the differential paid the employee when the majority of regularly scheduled nonovertime hours worked fall between 3 p.m. and 8 a.m.”
