Nil-Dicit Default Judgment Law and Legal Definition
‘Nil dicit” is a Latin term, meaning ‘he says nothing.’ Therefore, nil-dicit default judgment is a judgment that is entered for the plaintiff after the defendant fails to file a timely answer to the plaintiff’s complaint, most often after the defendant appeared in the case by filing a preliminary motion. Such judgment is also termed as nihil-dicit default judgment, or simply nihil-dicit.
