Non-metropolitan Area Law and Legal Definition
According to 42 USCS § 300e-1 [Title 42. The Public Health and Welfare; Chapter 6a. The Public Health Service; Health Maintenance Organizations], non-metropolitan area means an area no part of which is within an area designated as a standard metropolitan statistical area by the Office of Management and Budget and which does not contain a city whose population exceeds fifty thousand individuals.
