Nostro Account Law and Legal Definition
Nostro account is a foreign currency account maintained by a domestic bank with a correspondent bank in a foreign country. Otherwise, it is an account one bank holds with a bank in a foreign country, usually in the currency of that foreign country. For example, a Los Angeles bank desiring to maintain a Japanese yen account to facilitate payments to its customers' creditors would open an account with a correspondent bank in Japan.
