Not Proven Law and Legal Definition
Not Proven represents an archaic jury verdict. It resembles the term not guilty. But it does not mean that the defendant is innocent. But it carries with it an element of doubt or a strong suspicion of wrongdoing. It is also called as Scotch Verdict or bastard verdict.
