Notice of Assignment Law and Legal Definition
Notice of assignment refers to a notice of an assignment of a chose in action given to the debtor. It is given for the purpose of completing the assignment and vesting title in the assignee.
The law requires notice of assignment to prevent a debtor from asserting defenses, but absence of notice does not invalidate the assignment. [Wagner v. GMAC Mortg. Corp., 775 S.W.2d 71 (Tex. App. Houston 1st Dist. 1989)].
